Hello! As you probably know, I’ve always been one to respond to everyone who tweets me. And I usually responded immediately whenever I’m on Twitter because, well, I like people and my natural tendency is to be all-inclusive.
But recently it occurred to me that if I continue responding to everyone, then my tweets are not getting out there, and my “response tweeting” might be turning others off.
So I needed to rethink what I’m doing on Twitter. At the same time, I have also been going through some changes with a new avatar, and new handle.
And of course, this website. I know I am rather contrary – I like sports (NFL playoffs right now), and I like fashion (Project Runway right now). I’m a cartoonist, and I am also spiritual. I tweet politics, and also tweet quotes and positive affirmations.
A fashion editor friend once said to me after receiving my NFL football tweets, “Excuse me, what’s with the play-by-play?” On the other end of the spectrum, a sports writer friend would be getting my “Project Runway” tweets. I tried convincing both that the two fields are so alike, and how they should expand their interests (Seriously, NFL football and Project Runway are so alike as competitions go). Well that went over like saying, “Oatmeal is a great taste sensation.”
It’s taken me a while to understand what I should be doing on Twitter, and honestly, I’m still not sure. But I do know I should be tweeting more politics, events and trends than I have been in the past. I hope you will all understand if I cannot be as responsive, but please know that I appreciate your tweets, RT’s, mentions and FollowFridays.
One more thing: I truly wish you all the best, and send positive vibes to all in Twitterverse. Hate destroys. Love mends, and conquers…We have a dream.
